october-moon's Diaryland Diary

What does \"get a life\" mean?

I've had this on my mind all day. I was on a message board over on the IMDB site and a kid, about 15 years old or so, kept calling everyone losers, talking about how some people are online all day long, and how they need to "get a life". I know, on occasions, I've said that I need to "get a life", but, honestly, what does that mean? I know that my definition of a life is different than anyone else's. No one lives life the exact same way as another person, so how can a person tell another person that they need to "get a life". Perhaps that person is extremely happy with their way of life. Perhaps they love to be online. Does that make them a loser? In my opinion, it doesn't. Unless it's hurting them or somebody else, I don't see a problem with it. Of course, if it means that the person isn't working at all, never leaves the house, and never showers, then you definitely have a problem. Otherwise, nothing is wrong.
I get online simply because I'm avoiding cleaning my room. lol There is nothing else to do in this town so I might as well get online and find something to do. I'm in the midst of finding a job and I really have nothing else to do during the day. If people don't like that, who cares?
